You may have heard recently that there has been a problem with assessment in the Early Years area of the education system. This is in the area of being able to use assessments made with several assessment systems to assess progress of the pupils as they advance up the school.
We believe in assessing our children on entry to school, not to use the findings as part of a larger testing regime, but as an important guide as to what the child can do already and what they need to learn next. As part of this ethos we will continue to assess our pupils, unobtrusively, and use the information for the good of the children.
If you have any questions about how we assess the children and what we do with the results please ask the teacher in Early Years. They will be glad to explain.
